AI-Generated Creation Method Filter

You can check the product description page to see if the publisher has labeled that title as Handcrafted or AI-Generated:

What do the different filters mean?

  • Handcrafted → Artwork was made by an artist practicing their craft, without the use of AI-generation programs.
  • Contains AI-Generated Content → AI-Generation Programs such as Midjourney were used in creating some or all of the art in the title.
  • Creation Method Not Chosen by Publisher → The Publisher has not yet selected one of the above options.

DriveThru Marketplaces AI-Generated Content Policy

The following policy applies to all DriveThru Marketplaces.

DriveThru Marketplaces do not allow the following:

  • products that use generative writing to be listed.
  • standalone artwork products that utilize AI-generated tools, such as stock art, maps, tokens, etc.
  • products to include AI-generated VTT or other supplemental assets such as tokens, maps, handouts, portraits, etc.
  • "AI prompt" products, or any product intended to be used with a generative-AI large language model.

DriveThru Marketplaces require all Publishers to use the "Contains AI-Generated Content" filter on all products where generative-AI content is included.

DriveThru defines “AI-Generated art” as images created through the use of artificial intelligence algorithms and techniques trained on pre-existing data sets. (Examples: Midjourney, Artbreeder). The use of integrated AI systems in software like Photoshop or InDesign is not considered "generative" unless the program was asked to generate any aspect of the image or file.

A final product should be the result of human creativity and not AI-generation. Products should begin and end with human writing. AI should be used as a tool and not a replacement.

We acknowledge enforcement challenges and trust in the goodwill of our partners to offer customers unique works written with human creativity.

Images created with generative AI can be used on cover images, in product PDFs, and product descriptions.

The use of translation or grammar software that utilizes AI is acceptable if it is trained on proprietary, curated data.

Our Partner Relations team reserves the right to add or remove filters if a title is not properly marked. Titles that do not comply are subject to removal from the marketplace. Repeat offenders may have their publishing permissions revoked. Approval requests may be denied for suspected AI-generation.

A full statement of intent regarding our policy can be found in our AI Generated Artwork Policy Updates forum post. DriveThru reserves the right to update or modify these policies at any time. Community content program policies are dictated by the publisher that owns it.

Please use the Report Title button found on any product listing to notify DriveThru of products using AI-generation outside of the stated policy.
